Druids, Estcourt Rd

WeLoveWatford.co.uk stumbles across a 'sporting utopia' while out and about on the first day of the Ashes.... Stumbled across this Watford sports bar yesterday while searching for an for an office just off Clarendon Road. Once a grotty drinking hole, now a clean, friendly, efficiently-run bar that caters for many sports. Mainly rugby apparently, the many many replica shirts and signed memorabilia draped across the Druids' walls gave that away pretty quick, but yesterday the first day of the Ashes was being shown across three or four screens - I think this could be a busy pub at the weekend when big games are on. Two outside patio areas, one covered, one not, with tables and chairs, and even the kit for an outside plasma screen - which I understand was utilised during the recent British Lions tour of South Africa. The usual lagers are on tap (Carlsberg and 1664) as well as a couple of ciders, so no complaints here from me on that front. Forget Walkabout-style bars, too big and too corporate, the Druids is a sporting utopia with a 'local pub' atmosphere that will be luring me in over and over again.
